In the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 8 we see two examples of healing that touch on two very important aspects of supernatural healing, God’s will and our faith and in full context we see an example of each.
Matt: 8:2-3
2 A man with leprosycame and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy NIV
Here we see an example of God’s will in healing. Why does God heal some and not others? Why does he heal some instantaneously and others more slowly over time using doctors, people, or circumstances as conduits of his healing power? One thing is for sure, if it isn’t for HIS glory and the forwarding of his kingdom it won’t happen.
Matthew 8: 5-13
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." 8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 13Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. NIV
Here is an example of Jesus healing somebody because of their understanding of his power and their trust and faith in that power. Does this mean that if our level of Faith is high enough God will do as we ask? Only if it is his will and part of his plan for our lives.
Don’t let anybody tell you that you haven’t been healed because your faith isn’t strong enough or point an accusatory finger at you saying you have some un-confessed sin or that you may not even be saved and that is the reason why you haven’t been healed. There are many misused scriptures concerning healing, too many to enumerate here.
Know this; God does heal today just as he always did. Who he chooses to heal, when and how he chooses to heal is HIS will, and is not a reflection of the level of our faith or salvation. ( I John 5:14, Romans 9:14, Ex 33:19)
I hope this has helped somebody today.
Until the next time, may the Lord bless us and keep us, In Jesus name I pray.
